According to ancient local traditions, pigs are taboo for local people and for this reason, food made from pork is forbidden in Tusheti. Local people consider it disrespectful for visitors to bring pork to Tusheti.
According to local traditions, women are forbidden from entering local sacred shrines and sanctuaries.
Tusheti is a remote region, and as such there are no amenities such as petrol stations, pharmacies, beauty salons, banks, ATMs or currency exchanges booths.
• Please contact Tusheti National Park Administration before visiting any trail
• Visitors are advised to wear coarse cloth trousers and
high-top shoes;
• Take food and water to the field;
• Tourist season lasts from June to October;
• During the tourist season visitors may encounter
shepherds’ dogs;
• Transportation from Kvemo Alvani to Omalo is possible
only by off road vehicle; watching bezoars goat is possible during the whole
season;
• During the tourist season visitors may encounter
shepherds’ dogs.
VISITORS ARE ALLOWED TO:
✔ Walk along the signed path;
✔ Move on foot or an horseback;
✔ Conduct scientific and educational activities with
special permission;
✔ Use only designated camping and picnic areas for rest;
✔ Light a camp fire only at designated sites;
✔ Shoot photos and videos and paint outdoors in nature;
✔ Observe birds, animals and other forms of natural
life;
✔ Movement by car or other motorized vehicle only on
designated roads.
VISITORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO:
✖ Enter the National Park with firearms, hunting
equipment or anything that might be of threat to the environment;
✖ Bring pets into the National Park;
✖ Vandalize nature and/or local infrastructure, for
example by writing graffiti on trees, cliffs and rocks;
✖ Litter the environment;
✖ Climb trees and cliffs, approach the edges of gorges
by more than half a meter;
✖ Collect natural or cultural materials without special
permission;
✖ Bring and release living organisms of any alien
species;
✖ Move swiftly in case of limited visibility (mist, high
bushes or grass);
✖ Heliskii;
✖ Yell or shout loudly;
✖ Enter the territory of locally-revered shrines.
